Handmade pasta and a hundred-odd wines in a Grade II-listed former butcher's, feeding Teddington since 1983.

Shambles, italian restaurant & wine bar in Teddington

The name is a clue to the building’s past. For more than 250 years this Grade II-listed building on the High Street was a working slaughterhouse and butcher’s (a “shambles”). Since 1983 it’s been an Italian restaurant and wine bar.

The cooking is seasonal and traditional, built around handmade pasta, and the wine list runs to more than 100 bottles, with over 40 by the glass or carafe. The secret is out the back: a terrace and a private walled garden with olive trees, wisteria and even a small allotment. It’s an easy choice for a birthday, a long Sunday lunch or a summer night.
