The Builders Arms
A back-street local built for tradesmen in 1875, still full of old-school charm, and full of characters too.
The Builders Arms opened in 1875 to serve the town’s tradesmen, and it still feels like a proper local. It sits on Field Lane, off the main drag, with dark beams, a panelled oak bar, brass taps and bentwood stools lined up along the counter.
It calls itself a pub full of character, and of characters, with old-school charm. The handpumps on the bar keep a few cask ales on, and it’s the kind of place where you go for one and stay for the conversation.
